THE ROAD TO BECOMING A DENTIST leads through… Dr. Costello? You may know them all as your friendly dental assistants, but did you know that several of Dr. Costello’s assistants have been working toward their goals of becoming dentists themselves? Can you remember way back to 2003? Do you remember Kristin? She was a fabulous member of our team for several years after she graduated from UW-Madison. While applying to dental school, Kristin used that time to be Dr. Costello’s right hand gal and soak up all the knowledge she could in preparation for her education. She went on to Temple University School of Dentistry, graduating in 2009. Kristin met her husband while they were both in dental school and he was pursuing his dental education with a specialty in orthodontics. Kristin and Dan live in Pennsylvania with their three darling kids where Kristin works in general dentistry and Dan has an orthodontic practice. More recently, we have Kaleigh, who you can still see around the office on Saturdays. She also went to UW-Madison and worked for two years as Dr. Costello’s assistant while applying to dental schools. This system seems to work! Kaleigh learned a lot and feels that her experience working with Dr. Costello helped prepare her for all the work she is encountering at Marquette University School of Dentistry. She is currently in her third year of dental school and tries to work as many Saturdays as she can with us. We love to see her, even though it is only a few days a month! She enjoys being able to put all of her school knowledge to the test in the real world. Kaleigh plans to practice general dentistry when she finishes school. And now we have Andrew who recently graduated from UW-Whitewater. He has been an enjoyable addition to our team as he began working with us as one of Dr. Costello’s assistants back in May of this year. Andrew would be the first to tell you that he has learned a ton from Dr. Costello and he’s even more excited to begin school than ever! Andrew has recently had two interviews at Marquette University and University of Michigan and is patiently awaiting the results. At this point, he is undecided as to which school he prefers. We wish him the best and know he will make an excellent dentist. Assuming he is accepted he will begin school in fall of 2016. In the meantime, we are happy to keep him around! We are all proud of these three who have worked hard and grown so much since they first began with us. Dr. Costello is proud to have mentored each of these three great people at critical points in their dental careers. Everyone at the office is proud of them and in some way, we hope that we have encouraged their love of dentistry. Best of luck to each of them and to each of you as you make any big life-changing decisions ahead!
