These are common symptoms of temporomandibular disorder (TMD). <\/p>\n<h3><strong>TMJ Problems Can Lead To TMD<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p> Complex joints called temporomandibular joints (TMJ) connect your jaw to your skull. <strong>Properly aligned, these joints make it possible for us to chew, swallow, and talk. <\/strong>If these joints are out of alignment or not synchronized with your jaw, it can lead to serious, often painful, issues.  Problems with\u00a0your TMJ, jaw, and surrounding facial muscles can lead to temporomandibular disorders (TMD). <strong>These problems can be caused by undue strain<\/strong> <strong>on your TMJ and jaw<\/strong>\u00a0(often a result of teeth grinding, trauma, or stress). <\/p>\n<h3><strong>Some TMD Symptoms Include:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Headaches<\/li>\n<li>Jaw, face, neck, shoulder, and back pain\/soreness<\/li>\n<li>Earaches or ringing in ears<\/li>\n<li>Limited jaw movement, locking of the jaw<\/li>\n<li>Clicking, popping, or grating sounds with jaw movement<\/li>\n<li>Teeth grinding<\/li>\n<li>Difficulty chewing or an uncomfortable bite<\/li>\n<li>Sensitive teeth<\/li>\n<li>Dizziness<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Ear Problems? Your TMJ May Be To Blame<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>Various Treatment Options<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p> Various effective treatments can range from simple to more involved, including: <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ice and hot packs<\/li>\n<li>Relaxation techniques\/stress management<\/li>\n<li>Diet changes<\/li>\n<li>Posture training<\/li>\n<li>Physical therapy<\/li>\n<li>An appliance or mouthguard worn to stop teeth clenching<\/li>\n<li>Medication<\/li>\n<li>Surgery<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p> Typically, TMJ problems are temporary and not serious.
